Aran Islands

It's been a long day, but really what day hasn't been long on this trip?

This morning we had an early breakfast 7:30am, then we left the Ballymore house (name of the B&B), and drove to Tarbert to take the Shannon ferry. We missed one ferry by about 5-10 min! The next one was an hour later which is originally the one we had planned on taking anyways.

The ferry was 20 min long and 16€ which I had booked online before coming to Ireland. Then drove to Doolin and waited for the other ferry there, the one that would take us to Inish mor island.

This ferry was very frustrating, purchased the tickets (30€pp round trip) and then waited for the boat (1:15pm). We were standing in front of the boat and don't ask me how, but the boat left without us! I never saw people getting on! And then it was gone! Well another one was coming 20 min afterwards so we waited, by then we really weren't happy at all. They never made an announcement!

Got on the next boat! (Last one for the day), there is only about 3-4 boats you can take in the whole day. Then they failed to tell us again that we needed to get off on the first island and go to the other boat that we had initially missed! Glad I asked this time, so we got off on time and caugh the other one.

Thank God for Dramamine, because as the old Irish man said: the sea is a bit choppy today! Yeah I don't want to know what very choppy means! It was crazy out there. Also both Greg and I hadn't been feeling the best for some reason we had already been feeling drowsy in the morning.

Left on the other boat at 3:00pm out of Inish Meer (the first island). Stopped at the other island, Inish Maan, and then off to Inish Mor. Finally made it by around 4:00pm to the island. Walked around a bit, went into the shops and looked for food since we were starving. Ate and called up a taxi to pick us up and take us to the other side if the island. Stopped at the big Fort (Dun Aonghasa), it was beautiful! The waves crashing on the rocks and the strong wind, it was crazy but awesome. The taxi dropped us off here for about an hour and during this time we walked around, then he picked us up and dropped us off at the Creightmont house (name of the B&B). A cozy house where an old lady opened the door and showed us around. Then took a short walk to seven churches.

This pony was SOOOOO cute! He came over to is when we approached him.

The downside of this place is that it's way too far from town so it's hard to get into town (no music tonight!) and taxis charge more in the evening to come all the way here.
