Greg and I went on a hike yesterday to Abram falls on the smoky mountains. It was snowing and sleeting at times. It was a lot of fun! After that we stopped at gatlinburg, where we went to the aquarium.

Christmas adventure 2012-days 8-9
A tough morning to get up! We were so exhausted from yesterday.
We went to universal studios with Jess, her husband David, Vikki and her bf Josh.
It was wondeful! The braves got on 2 water rides and the not so braves only on 1! We were soaked and it was cold, but we still had a lot of fun.
We went to islands of adventure, and universal studios. Rode most of the roller coasters and Greg and I agreed that we liked Harry potter the most!
We have now left Florida, and we are on our way to Knoxville!

Christmas adventure 2012 - day 7
Well we've been a Greg's grandmother's house for 2 days now. It's been a very much relaxing time needed.
Yesterday we got up late, cooked breakfast and went out for dinner with aunt Gale, LaOra, her kids and her fiancé.
Greg's grandmother is a sweet lady, age tells us very interesting stories. She also worlds really hard on ancestry.com and tries to figure out who was her great great grandad's dad!
Today we went out on a walk and it was rwally windy. We just got back from Red Lobster, it was delicious!!!
We are now waiting for the rest of the family to come over.
I'm glad the world did not end! Because there are still a lot of things I need to do before my life is over, including going to universal studios tomorrow.

Christmas adventure 2012- day 5
It's been a long day! Also a wondeful day.
We are now in Wildwood, FL, at Greg's grandmother's house. We got up early this morning to go and your the alligator farm that Greg's cousins own. It was super neat! I really enjoyed it.
We got to hold a baby alligator and also see many more. The farm is pretty big and we were given a tour of the farm by Susan, Greg's cousin. She showed us the places where they are, how they skinned them, and how they treat the skin.
We went out for lunch with aunt Sue and uncle James! We took off to FL right after.
It's been a long night, we've talked to Greg's gramma for a while and all her stories. It has been so interesting to hear it all! I also stated reading her biography! Pretty cool! She is a really sweet nice lady!

Christmas adventure - day 4
Ok...let's try this again! -- this is the third time I write this post.
It has been a great trip! We made it to Camilla, Georgia. We arrived yesterday evening, went out for dinner to Pizza Hut with most of Greg's cousins and second cousins. It was a wonderful time.
We are staying at Greg's aunt and uncles' lodge. A really cute cabin back in the woods next to a pond. It's going to be pretty hard to leave tomorrow.
This morning we got up early, went out for breakfast with Sarah (Greg's cousin) and his aunt and uncle. It was delicious. We then went to Thomasville a small cute little town that reminded me of downtown Holland, MI a lot.
We came back to the farm and rode a 4 wheeler through the pecan trees and through the woods. We spent the rest of the evening watching the catfish in the pond and the fire ants around the place.
It was a great day! We ate dinner with his aunt and uncle here at the lodge. We are sad to leave tomorrow, it was been a great time. The alligator farm awaits for us in the morning, so I gotta get to bed.

Colorado
I do not even know where to start with this trip. What seemed to have been a nice peaceful trip
turned into the craziest trip of our lives.
A few months ago my friend Kanwal had invited us to her wedding in
Colorado, it was a Muslim-Pakistani wedding. Plans were that we were not
attending, until I realized Greg had those days off and I did as well, AND
tickets weren’t that expensive. So we
booked the flights. We not only booked
flights but made plans for the weekend.
The first night, we arrived at around 11pm, by the time we got the car
it was 11:45pm and we still needed to drive about 3 hours to get to our
campsite. We were spending the night at
Kite Lake, south of Breckenridge.
By the time we arrived at our campsite it was around 3am or
so. I try not to go into detail, but this time I have to, as not to distort the
story once I tell my kids in the future. I never realized the streets going up
to the mountain were not paved, I missed that on reading about mt. Lincoln. We rented a small very small car! At 3am you
couldn’t see anything but 10ft in front of the car. Going up the hill was an
adventure, I was driving while Greg was clinging to the seat with a panic
straight pale face (not exaggerating).
Cliffs on either side that we couldn’t see, and literally one of the
scariest drives when it’s 3am and you don’t know what you’re doing. Made it up
the hill, unpacked, set up the tent. All of this took a while since altitude
was 12,000+ we were breathing hard.
Let’s add that it was in the 40’s too and extremely windy! We got inside
the tent and try to warm up, we also attempted to sleep! Greg slept for sometime in my warm and cozy
sleeping bag, while I froze and got maybe 1hr of sleep.
The next morning we started our trip at around 9am I think.
We hiked all the way up to Mt. Lincoln (11th highest in the
continental US) with 14,293ft elevation.
It was hard, very very hard. Greg kept on stopping to catch a breath,
elevation was killing us. We made it
though, it was super fun! It was awesome to be up there the view was sweet! We
were up there for sometime, took pictures and enjoyed the views. Then came back
down, that part was a lot harder for me, my knees hurt a lot, plus the rush to
wanting to use the restroom didn’t help. We made it back down at around 1:30pm.
Drove to the wedding location which was delayed from 5pm to
7pm to 11pm! However we really enjoyed the festivities, we stayed at the house
my friend had rented. Her family was also there too, we enjoyed it, and of
course the ritual was very different!
Went to bed at around 2am, and got up at 5:30am to take on the next
adventure. Drove another two hours and made it to the whitewater rafting place!
We whitewater rafted the Colorado river, it was really nice,
the water was super cold, so I wore my wetsuit! (YAY!) Drove back another two
hours to the second part of the wedding.
More celebrations and a beautiful dress worn by the bride, then drove at
around 11 to Denver, and arrive at around 1:30-2am. Slept in Jadi’s place (the
groom’s house) set off the alarm!! AHH! And got it to shut off at least, it was
so so scary. Then off to bed, for a few
hours until we had to get up to go to the airport. We had to be at the airport at 6am, flight
was delayed for about an hour, we were exhausted!
Finally made it home, we of course decided to go to bed
right away. We got up late and remembered that we were supposed to greet people
at church, so quickly changed into semi-nice clothes, fixed up my hair and off
to church! Once we were done greeting,
we went back home.

New Orleans
We have now been married for two weeks. No one said we would become a boring couple
after being married… well some did, but we refuse to accept that. I had booked a place in New Orleans a few
months ago.
We drove from Houston to
NOLA, it was a 6? Hour drive, it was raining really hard as we got closer to
our destination. I booked the place
through groupon, it was an old bed and breakfast, kind of on a cute
neighborhood. We arrived and settled in
in the room which had the strangest pictures ever. There was a party going on
that night at Gregg Kennedy friend’s house.
We met up with Greg that evening and ate at a New Orleans typical restaurant. Gregg is one of greg’s friends from
WashU. He was a really nice guy, I hadn’t
met him yet. We then followed him to the
party, met some of his friends, ate some food and then headed back to the
B&F. In the morning, we got up ate
breakfast and went to the city where we walked down Burbon street, ate poboys (I had alligator ones) and walked
through some parks, we even napped in the park.
We had a great afternoon, at night we met up with Gregg in a nice little
restaurant, great food, then we got daiquiris to go and afterwards we visited
his medical school house where he lives with a lottt of guys.
While we enjoyed our stayed in New Orleans we prefer a
quieter not so party life. Oh I forgot
to mention that we got stuck in the room, well Greg did… the door handle fell
off so I had to go rescue Greg by going through a window and through the
balcony.
